Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I have always felt that how we face death is just as important as how we face life.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? Local ownership allows us to focus on our patients first instead of profits, which tends to be the focus of corporate medicine.
Hospice Experience: 18 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? Hospice needs to be more of integral part of healthcare it is under-utilized because Physician, Nurse and patients aren’t educated in conversing up family and patients about what hospice has to offer when other healthcare options are no longer optional.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I enjoy being an advocate and also provider for hospice it is a great healthcare modality. SOUTHEAST IS THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
Hospice Experience: 18 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? Hospice has given me the opportunity to advocate for terminally ill patients, support them in their time of need, and stand beside them and their families to ensure presence and comfort during the most difficult them of their lives.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? SouthEast Hospice’s philosophy of care, provision of the highest standard of care, and always putting the patient’s needs first. I’m privileged to work with an incredibly talented hospice team and a Medical Director with expert knowledge, skills, compassion, and integrity to provide the best hospice services in the greater Augusta area.

Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I wanted to help in providing comfort to individuals in some of their most difficult times.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? SouthEast Hospice was founded on the principle of putting the patient’s needs first. Their patient-centric and family-oriented approach to hospice care is truly unique.
Hospice Experience: 25 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? Started in hospice to have work life balance with 3 young babies. Realized how fulfilling it was in my career to allow families to have a long goodbye with their loved ones. I didn’t get that opportunity with my mom because she died suddenly.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I have worked with various hospice National providers, Local Hospital based hospice Privately owned agencies. Southeast Hospice feels like home. Being with a smaller company allows us to really focus on each individual patient and their family’s needs. Our agency is exceptionally staffed with team members that really engage with their patients to make it the best hospice experience.
Hospice Experience: 10 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? To provide compassionate care and love for someone’s last days the way they should be. My grandfather was a victim of poor hospice care and I wanted to do my part to change that for someone else.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I love SouthEast Hospice because the team we have whole-heartedly loves what they do. We are a family, and it shows in the care we provide.

Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I have always felt the draw to hospice during my 7 years as a RN, I hope to bring love, Support, and peace to the patient and families through a difficult time,
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? We all work as a team and family to care for patients and their families. To ensure Support and meets the needs.

Why did you choose to serve in hospice? After ten years of working in the hospital setting, I started looking for a job that would allow me to focus on giving compassion and quality. I had a misconception of hospice but quickly learned that hospice enhances the patient’s quality of life as they face life limiting illness. I felt an immediate connection to the hospice philosophy, Southeast’s staff and their patients.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I entered nursing wanting to give care, and to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Southeast gives me an opportunity to do both! Rather than just addressing the patient’s medical condition, Southeast improves the patient’s quality of life. I am blessed with the opportunity to support the wishes of my patients while helping them reach their goals for care. It’s an honor to be a member of the southeast hospice family!
Hospice Experience: 1 year
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? After working in the hospital for 4 years and seeing patients and families struggle with end-of-life decisions and symptoms I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to learn how to provide comfort and care to patients and their loved ones during the most difficult time of their life. It gives me great satisfaction to know I am helping bring peace to the patient and family and making a difference.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I love being part of the Southeast family because we truly are a family. We work together as a team to provide quality care that is focused on what is the best for the patient and family. Each member of our team provides quality compassionate care for our patients and families.
Hospice Experience: 3 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I enjoy helping patients and families through some of the toughest and uncertain times. I also enjoy showing people that “hospice” isn’t a bad thing. Often time a patient’s quality of life improves when they come on services.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? Being part of a team is positive and encouraging.
Hospice Experience: 6 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I did not have plans to become a hospice nurse but after working closely with SouthEast Hospipce as an RN Supervisor in long-term care, I felt a pull to hospice after becoming familiar with the hospice philosophy. The SouthEast Hospice team stood out from every other hospice that I had worked with in the past.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I love that each and every member of our team goes above and beyond for every patient and family each and every time.
Hospice Experience: 6 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I chose to get into hospice due to previous experience that saw some patients pass during hospital stays while undergoing futile treatments simply because they were never told about palliative care. That felt so unfair and led me towards the calling to advocate for this particular demographic of patients.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? Southeast has a unique way of understanding the true meaning of hospice, and always makes sure that our patients are well cared for.

Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I enjoy helping families cope with and deal with death and dying. Often time, simple hearing and becoming familiar about such A “non-talked about subject makes a person better prepared for the unknown.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? The amount of teamwork shown across all disciplines.
Hospice Experience: 7 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I worked as a CNA and RN for several years in various settings and during that time, I had a great deal of exposure to patients with terminal illness. I found that a majority of patients and families lacked the knowledge/education needed in order to make inform decisions regarding their plan of care and the quality of life they wanted with the time they had left. Advocating for patients and families has always been very important to me and I felt/ still feel that specializing in end-of-life care was, is, and always be a calling for me.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? Where do I start? SE is an amazing place to work! Not only is it a place of business, but every individual that makes up the team has extraordinary commission, Kindness, integrity, and the daily drive to want to provide the best care advocacy for our patients. Our patients and families are treated with the utmost respect and consideration in a very Holistic manner We truly are family!!
Hospice Experience: 4 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? When I was a young nurse, I had the opportunity to try out hospice and fell in love with hospice care but the time was not right. So fast forward 30 yrs. The opportunity to love on the patients and the families came into Canada. It was the best job in the world! Comfort and peace are what I hope to bring to the families I get to serve.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I love the family atmosphere here. I know if I need help it will be there. I love the fact that the company cares for the patient and will provide for the needs of each individual. I have amazing. I team members.
Hospice Experience: 14 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? While completing my residency, hospice fell in my lap – I like to say hospice chose me. I believe my gifts match up with what hospice calls for an I am honored to serve our community.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? SouthEast Hospice is hands down the best hospice company I have ever worked with because everyone here is focused on doing what is best for the patients and families – it’s the heartbeat of what we do.
Hospice Experience: 12 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I interned at the Area Agency on Aging Family Caregiver Support Program in Graduate School and became interested in providing support to patients and family caregivers throughout their care process.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? The team values the whole-care picture. Importance is placed, not just on the medical aspect of hospice care, but the psychosocial and spiritual health and support of the patient and the family as a whole.
Hospice Experience: 1 year
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? Both of my parents were cared for by a hospice. It was such a positive experience. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work in this field and give back some of what I had received.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? From day one, I was impressed with the respect and cooperation that the team shows to each other and to our patients. The Southeast is a positive light. Shining During a tough time, for our families.
Hospice Experience: 4 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? My father was diagnosed with live Cancer in 2009 and was in hospice towards the last two months of his life. Hospice played a major role for my father and our family during a very difficult time in our life. This experienced provided me with an opportunity to look at hospice and death in a different light. It is an honor and privilege to walk with our hospice families.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? Southeast Hospice has an amazing staff who often go above and beyond for our patients and families. The company and staff do what they can within their means to provide the best care. Staff also look out and take care of each other. It has been a wonderful experience working for Southeast Hospice.

Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I chose to serve in hospice because I know that I can make a difference in every patient and family lives. These are some of the toughest times that you could ever imagine, going through and being able to give comfort to the patient as well as the family is the reason I know hospice is my purpose. Hearing how much of a difference you can make in a family’s life is the reward for me.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? It is definitely many things I enjoy about being a part of the southeast family. they are not just an employer, while taking care of each and every patient they also take care of their employee, and it feels really good see that. They are the most caring work family I have ever had. This is the best job I have ever had hands down. You don’t feel like just an employee, you feel part of a family.

Why did you choose to serve in hospice? Because the patients get to experience special time and I love a special time with my patients and family.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? Being family orientation and the love and family feeling.
Hospice Experience: 20 years ago
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I was not sure what I wanted to do, so I asked God to point me in the right direction because I really loved helping people. I didn’t want to work in a nursing home or a hospital, I wanted more 1 on 1 where I could care for them. One of the nurses that I knew had mentioned hospice and ask me if I would like to have an interview and start with their company. My interview went very well, I started with hospice and have never looked back because hospice is where my heart is.
What made you want to become a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? I choose Southeast hospice because two of the people that I’ve worked with before and I really admire is Deena Latargia which is our Executive Director and Chico Johnson a CNA that I’ve worked with and known for 20 years, really enjoy this company. SouthEast Hospice is more like a family than a business.
Hospice Experience: 5 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? Comfort: My Dad had Pancreatic Cancer and refused hospice. He laid in a hospital bed for 2 weeks with terminal agitation. He was terrified of Hospice. I wish he would have opted for the service and been comfortable at home. I like doing this to keep patients’ home, and changing what people view of hospice as bad to turn that around.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? Because it is like an extension of my family and patients come first. Southeast also looks out for their employees.
Hospice Experience: 2 years
Why did you choose to serve in hospice? I worked alongside hospice companies while at my last facility job and felt like it was where I was meant to be. I really enjoy what I do and the smiles and comfort I being to the patients and families.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? The work itself is truly rewarding but the team we have is amazing. I have never worked with a company that has so many coworkers willing to set aside what they are doing to assist you with whatever you need help with. If it’s just answering a question, listening about a complaint, or helping with a patient, someone is always there. I am very thankful for my Southeast Hospice family.

Why did you choose to serve in hospice? To have more time for patient care and get to know the patient’s life.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the SouthEast Hospice family? The family dynamic and teamwork. Everyone cares for each other wholeheartedly and I’ve never experienced that at any job previously.
